The main purpose of the Tablet Designer module is to create a shape of the tablet which you will use further in the simulations. An ability to stick to the final marketed product shape helps close the gap between prototype and final product designs and aid you during the formulation design work. Already at these earlier stages of development with its software, you can, for example, estimate if you have enough volume in your dosage form to accommodate the required dose of the API of your choice.
With the 3D renders of the tablets, you can optimize or propose the color scheme of your product, etc.
Tablet Designer module allows you to accommodate several commonly used techniques to enhance patients' compliance, acceptance, and medication adherence. These are shape smoothing tools, the variable concavity of the tablets, bevelling, and breaking notch designs.
For every standard or custom tablet design, the software will calculate all of the necessary statistics, such as volume, surface, height, recommended punch gap, die opening area, etc.
Additional measurement tools allow you to assess any length or curvature of your design to uniquely describe the product and help mechanical workshops produce tableting tooling for your product.

To start creating a tablet shape, begin by choosing a starter geometry with the "Handle points" slider and press the "New" button.
With the "Handle allocation radius," you can set the envelope diameter of your tablet. If you change this parameter, commit the change with the "New" button. Try the same for the "Ellipticity " and the "Smoothness factor" sliders.
If you want to customize your shape beyond the standard options, click on the main shape and drag the "handle" point. You can also change the shape of the smoothing polynomial by manipulating the "whiskers" handles.
If you want to measure either curvature or a distance between any points on the chart, press either "H Dim" for length or "R Dim" for curvature buttons. Drug the handles until they "dock" on the curve in the desired place. Press the "Clear Dims" button to delete all dimensions.
On the "Tooltip Geometry" tab, you can set the height of the caps, bevels, and ellipticity of the caps. On the "Scoreline" tab, the breaking notch parameters can be adjusted. To see the effect of the breaking notch, you have to render the 3D view first.
To see your design in three dimensions, change to the "360° View" tab and press the "Calculate and Display" button.

Colors and finish effects can be applied in realtime on the generated geometry.
Please, make sure that you have rendered your shape in 3d before changing to the "Particle Arrangement and Compaction" module.
If you return to the "Projections" tab, you will see the volumes and other parameters calculated for this tablet.
You can download this design to your computer and upload it later on, or you can export STL data for the designed geometry and send it to a 3d printer, etc.
